Jesse recently moved to New York City after graduating from Harvard in 2008 with a BA in music. Jesse has experience writing music for all media, having written choral, instrumental and vocal music for film, the concert hall, and the stage. His choral music has been performed professionally across the country. His senior thesis, entitled “Finding Danny” (a theatrical song cycle for mezzo soprano) received magna cum laude from the Harvard music department. Although Jesse considers himself a composer first, he began as a performer. As a guitarist, he has appeared onstage with musicians such as Kate Taylor, Carly Simon, and Jim Belushi. Jesse has also studied piano since childhood and is an active accompanist. He is also a trained tenor and sings professionally.
Jesse is an experienced music director and conductor. He recently music directed Sweeney Todd at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, MA. His new musical, Our Guy, was workshopped earlier this year at Pace University, a production for which he also served as music director. In the spring, Jesse was hired to music direct The Spitfire Grill at Pace University. At the same time, he served as a production assistant in the music department of Rock of Ages on Broadway.
Jesse married actress Maggie Joy Anderson on Martha's Vineyard in September. He recently worked with George Stiles on a reading of Stiles & Drewe's new musical Soapdish. Also, he did string arrangements for Bruce Springsteen for his concert at Madison Square Garden in November.
